The Mobius Maxi action camera is on the market for years already.
It is the successor of the famous
Mobius 1 actioncam🖱️
that I also own (since 2015).
You can find a lot of general techical information about the Mobius cameras there also (recommended).
The internal batteryconnector of my the Mobius 1 had broken but I managed to solve that with superglue.
I liked that Mobius 1 so much that I decided to also buy the newer Mobius Maxi model in spring 2020.
Since I was stationary during my winterstop anyway I could easily wait for the 4 weeks deliverytime.
But immediately after receival I discovered that the autostart* function had disappeared
from the setup programm.
Which is a Major Error and Really Shit for cyclists !
Now I have to push 4 buttons consecutively to get it running in timelapse picturemode,
which is impossible far to dangerous while cycling since it takes to much attention.
So if you are a cyclist the Mobius Maxi is a bad choice.
You then should order the
Mobius 1 actioncam🖱️.
I also ordered a new handlebar-bracket and an extensionbracket to get the camera looking over the handlebarbag.
That turned out to be very handy since I could very easily pull the camera to the rear
when needing access to the handlebarbag.
And it even had an extra advantage then it was very easy to find those pictures (in the whole series)
that were pointing upwards.
Like the Mobius 1 the housing of the Mobius Maxi also collects dirt very well since the coating of the housing acts like glue.
And I discovered a crack in the housing at a corner where there is a screw to tighten it.
It has only two screws then at the other ends it uses hooks.
This causes the body to be unevenly tightened, that's why I suppose.
In a china bazaar I found a small toolcase which I turned into a protectioncase.
I cut out the interiorwalls and glued the foamcase of the old Mobius 1 in it.
This is now a sturdy case that functions very well in storing and protecting the camera.
The Mobius Maxi came in a nice and quite sturdy paperbox (but without foam)
that however will not last very long when always cycling.
The body of the Mobius Maxi is of quite a harder material then that of the Mobius 1.
The result is rather bad.
After just about a year the body had cracked, one screwpilon broke, the internal rearclips broke
and a complete part of some 1cm broke out of the sidewall.
Even more disastrous is that the Mobius Maxi Does Not Fit into the holder.
Anybody ???
It Is Very Lickely to Will Fall Out while cycling.
I glued the bodyparts together with a flexible glue so I can open it again if needed ...
The coating of the body attracts dirt very happily which really is very annyoing.
But corona helped me out since I noticed the coating immediately loosens when touch with desinfected
"alcohol" fingers.
I removed it completely and the result is oké.
Mobius uses the rear-led to indicate the status of the battery by blinking 1, 2 or 3 times at startup.
This is not very informative and the setupprogram has no batteryinfo at all.
Is the battery just over 1/3 or a full 2/3 charged when that led blinks 2 times ?
Besides that the Mobius chargingsystem is "different".
The green led does not blink but turns green solidly all the time.
Most annoying is that it turns off then charging stops.
It then does not attract any attention anymore and chance is high you forget turning the charger off.
